Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez showed what a great option he has on the bench, and the Uruguayan international beat Arne Slot’s team in the match against Brentford yesterday.
The Reds had to fight until the end to claim a 2-0 win away at Brentford, with Nunez coming off the bench to score both goals in stoppage time.
According to Opta Joe in X’s post below, this now takes Nunez to eleven goals and assists as a substitute in the Premier League since moving to Anfield in the summer of 2022 – more than any other player in the same period of time…
11 – Since his first Premier League campaign in 2022-23, Liverpool’s Darwin Núñez has been directly involved in more goals as a substitute than any other player (11 – seven goals, four assists). Super. pic.twitter.com/rN5AMQdxnE

Nunez may have had his fair share of critics during his time at Liverpool, but these are very impressive numbers, and every club needs a super-replacement of this calibre.
The 25-year-old may not exactly be a starter for LFC, so it remains to be seen if he remains content in this role, but for now it’s clearly a huge asset for Sloto.
Liverpool could be tempted cash in on a team player like Nunez if the money is right, but these stats above certainly show that they have to fight to keep this top replacement option.
Anfield Watch he recently claimed that there is Saudi interest in Nunez, but this has not yet materialized into anything more concrete.
Nunez would certainly have plenty of suitors, even if he isn’t good enough to start regularly for Liverpool, but it’s hard to imagine the Merseyside giants easily swapping him for someone else equally effective off the bench.
Liverpool picked up an important three points yesterday, while title rivals Arsenal then dropped points later in the day as they could only draw 2-2 against Aston Villa.
