Ryan Garcia vs. Isaac Cruz & Devin Haney vs. Jose Ramirez: Double PPV showdown in May!

Ryan Garcia vs. Isaac Cruz and Devin Haney vs. Jose Ramirez will fight in a doubleheader on DAZN PPV in May in Times Square in New York City. This will be one of Turki Al-Sheikh’s big cards and will set the table for a rematch in October between Ryan and Haney in Riyadh.

Doubleheader in May

Kingry (24-1, 20 KOs) has an easier fight against former WBA welterweight champion ‘Pitbull’ Cruz (26-3-1, 18 KOs). While it’s not an easy fight for Ryan, it’s less risky than the one facing Haney (31-0, 15 KOs), against the former WBC and WBO 140lb champion Jose Ramirez (29-2, 18 KOs).

Devin is fighting a really good fighter from the 2012 Olympian, Ramirez, 32, and there’s a good chance he’ll lose to this guy because he can punch and has great technical skills. However, Turkey probably won’t care if Haney gets it because he has a different philosophy about holding on to losing fighters. Fans will still want to see a Garcia-Haney rematch in October regardless of what happens to Haney against Ramirez.

“Sources revealed plans for a TIMES SQUARE 🗽🍎 and outdoor event in May, including Ryan Garcia-Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, Devin Haney-Jose Ramirez, as part of the launch of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves from SNK and Ringa Magazin # ESPNKnockOut,” Salvador Rodriguez said on X.

The reactions of fans on social media about these two fights are mixed. Most would rather see Ryan fight Haney right away than settle first. But in Haney’s case, he must first reestablish his credibility by beating a top fighter at 140 because Ryan beat him so badly.

It is this one-sided fight; a rematch makes no sense except for business purposes. If Haney can prove himself against Jose Ramirez, he will show boxing fans that Garcia didn’t destroy his chin and that he is worth a rematch.

I don’t see Haney winning this fight against Ramirez because this guy is not Regis Prograis. He actually has talent and will put him under the gun from the first round, looking for his Swiss chin, looking to finish what Ryan started.

If Turki is still good in the Haney-Garcia fight with Devin destroyed by Ramirez, that’s fine. Fans still want to see a rematch for entertainment purposes, but oddsmakers would consider Ryan the heavy favorite.
