Honor’s Magic 7 Pro is refined Android mobile phone which weaves together the latest AI tools and advanced tools. It wins wherever it matters. You get an amazingly versatile camera, impressive durability, fast charging, silky smooth performance, and a great display. A few subtle but important changes over the existing ones take this smartphone to the next level.
Chinese phone manufacturer Honor has impressed me with its latest devices, from last year Magic 6 Pro for the impossibly svelte Honor Magic V3. This year, it has given a lot of attention to the program and the welcome polish. Its heavy investment in AI has begun to mature, with features that seem more effective in the Magic 7 Pro than its predecessors. It’s a bargain at £1,099 ($1,346), and sadly it’s not officially sold in the US. But UK and European buyers shouldn’t sleep on the Magic.
Hidden Changes
At first glance, the Magic 7 Pro looks similar to the 6 Pro, but I was happy to find a better display and frame, which makes it more comfortable to use and less likely to be accidentally touched than a curved glass. Honor has dropped the camera module, although it is still large enough to damage the phone a bit. While this phone became huge after that using the Pixel 9it is manageable. I don’t like the bright color of my Lunar Shadow Gray review unit, but it’s nicer than the other blue or black options.
The 6.8-inch screen is as good as anything I’ve tested. It’s bright, smooth, and sharp. By the numbers, it has a 2,800 x 1,200-pixel resolution, adjustable 120 Hz refresh ratewith a brightness of 1,600 nits (up to 5,000 nits on the backlight). Video looks great on the 7 Pro, with support for Dolby Vision and HDR Vivid, and the speakers are nice and loud without distortion. Honor has also included a number of products that aim to reduce eye strain and stress, but they are difficult to quantify.

The only minor annoyance I had was with the large cutout for the selfie camera, though you get used to it. It’s a compromise I can accept in order to get access to secure face unlock – something that’s rare on Android phones, because it also works with banking apps.
There’s plenty of power under the hood with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and 12 GB of RAM. As you would expect, the benchmark results are high, and this phone can handle everything. There is also 512 GB of fast storage, which is more than most phones offer at this price. Honor Magic 7 Pro has IP68 and IP69 level also, which means that it can be submerged and handle water jets or steam.
Looking inside, high-quality polishing is evident throughout. Honor talks about AI in the Magic 7 Pro, and we’ll get into some of the features, but it goes into the phone. AI has gone into the phone’s software to reduce background noise and improve voice clarity, and there’s a privacy feature designed to prevent voice output and distract listeners.
