While the future of TikTok is in doubt, TikTok CEO Shou Chew is plans to attend with the President-Elect Donald Trump opening On Monday, The New York Times reports. The dignitaries will join Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk at the event, where former presidents and important guests will be in attendance.
While Trump led calls to end the program during his first term, he took a different tack during his 2024 campaign and pledged to keep the program if elected. Mr. Trump discussed how his and his campaign’s influence has been successful on TikTok, and that he was able to reach young users through the platform.
Chew’s upcoming appearance at the launch and Trump’s embrace of the app are important as TikTok nears its shutdown in the US on Sunday.
