The men in blue lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia after 10 years by a margin of 1-3. India now face England in five T20Is and three ODIs at home. Rishabh Pant was not selected for the T20I series and the team opted for in-form Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel as wicketkeepers.
Rishabh Pant has confirmed his availability for Delhi’s upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra starting on Thursday, January 23. Speaking to PTI, Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) secretary Ashok Sharma announced that Pant will join the team in Rajkot before the upcoming match.
It is worth mentioning that it will be Pant’s first Ranji Trophy appearance since the 2017-18 season.
“Yes, Pant has confirmed his availability for the next Ranji match and will directly join the squad in Rajkot,” said Sharma (quoted by ESPNcricinfo).
India have a busy white-ball schedule, with T20Is and ODIs against England, followed by the Champions Trophy. Pant is not part of the T20I squad but is likely to be included as one of the wicketkeepers for the ODIs. He will be in the running for the goalkeeper role for the Champions Trophy.
