Trevoh Chalobah’s surprise recall to Chelsea’s first-team squad means Crystal Palace have to find a defender from somewhere.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Eagles before Enzo Maresca decided he wanted to have the centre-back at his disposal again.

Everything seems to be changing at Stamford Bridge, like Chelsea are trying to sign Marco Guehi from Palace, a decision that will certainly not please Oliver Glasner.

Really, Crystal Palace risk losing up to eight playerss, and any progress made under the Austrian after the sticky point is sure to upset the Eagles’ recent form.

After just two wins in 10 games, Palace have now won three of their last four, drawing the second (WhoScored).

Seeing Chalobah leave just as the team was getting back on track is a huge disappointment.

Fabrizio Romano named two potential Chelsea transfer targets!

However, African foot note that Palace have already identified their replacement.

FC Midtjylland just signed Ousmane Diao six months ago and the standard of his performances marked him out as an excellent addition to Danis’ sides.

On the other hand, vultures are already circling the 20-year-old who is believed to be available for just €4 million.

The centre-back is six feet tall but can also do a decent job at right-back, suggesting a versatility that could come in handy for Palace at the business end of the campaign.

With the January transfer window just weeks away, Oliver Glasner and the Palace board will need to act quickly if they are to land the player.

Fulham and FC Porto are also reportedly interested in Dia’s services, so there is even more need for the South Londoners to get off the blocks quickly.
