Alejandro Garnach’s miss against Southampton was condemned by BBC journalist Simon Stone.

The Manchester United winger had a perfect chance to put his team up 1-0, but he brilliantly missed the target.

In the 19th minute, Rasmus Hojlund made a great run down the left side and intercepted a pass to the Argentinian, who put it wide of the goal.

“Ruben Amorim held his head in his hands, Rasmus Hojlund hit the post in frustration. Both know that Garnacho should score.

“The Argentine gets into great positions, but is wasteful. It’s a constant theme this season. Amorim admitted that his team is not scoring enough goals. That’s another one gone.”

A half to forget for Garnacho and Manchester United

Not only did Garnacho make a terrible miss, but he received a low 6.4/10 rating for the first half – an amount that is quite poor by their standards.

Things went from bad to worse for United and Garnacho as the Premier League players hit the back of the net at Old Trafford for the first goal.

A Saints corner bounced off Manuel Ugarte and into the net to give the visiting team a one-goal advantage.

Southampton have won just once all season and could be set for a season-defining victory.

Amorim has been at United since November, but he still hasn’t been able to make good form. The club has had flashes of brilliance, such as their heroics over Arsenal in the FA Cup third round last week, but it has often come up short.
