‘Most Wanted Leaders’ Playing Cards Ban Users on Multiple Platforms

You won’t find James Harr or the business he started on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or any other social media site. Why? After the assassination of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, Harr revealed a plan to sell a pack of cards with the CEO’s face on them. Like in detail and the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the online platforms removed Harr and ComradeWorkWear from their jobs following the disclosure of the cards.

There is a proud tradition in America of putting your political or military enemies in the game and selling them out to the public. During the 2003 war in Iraq, the Defense Intelligence Agency he made a set of playing cards which contained pictures, names, and information about America’s intentions in Iraq. You can buy the deck on Amazon right now made by playing card Giant Bicycle.

Also on Amazon are cards made by Russian politicians and media people dressed in prison clothes. It is called the “Hague Tribunal” and it cost about $12. Elsewhere on the Internet, you can buy a train “Most Wanted COVID,” which includes celebrities such as Anthony Fauci and CEO Jeff Bezos, Jack Dorsey, and Mark Zuckerberg. Some of the posts also include “Most Wanted’s” phone numbers, email addresses, and social media links.

A list of CEOs playing cards, though? That was a bridge too far for some of these towers.

Harr announced the ship on December 14, 2024. An history of ComradeWorkWear shows cards. The deck of 52 cards contained a picture of the CEO, the name of their company, and a QR code that would draw attention to a website that explained why CEOs were bad. The back of the playing cards featured a straight silhouette, the type sold in gun stores across the US.

Harr promoted the ship on his various social media platforms. The New York Post saw this and published an article on the front page about the cards in the title “Whacked Deck. A card-twisting game to hunt CEOs” on December 15.

On December 17th, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch took issue with The Post at the press conference and challenged the deck of cards. “Yesterday, the New York Post reported that some activists were circulating cards with some of the most wanted CEOs to be killed,” he said. “These are the threats of a lawless, violent group that would sell their vigilance and the law that protects us all.”

After the press conference, Harr began losing access to his social media accounts and businesses. His TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube accounts are gone. YouTube tells users because the account “violated community guidelines.”

Harr didn’t receive much communication from the platforms he did business with. On December 20, Paypal, Shopify, and Apple Pay cut him off. According to the EFF, Shopify told him it was because of “obscene” and that the idea was “made by our banking partners.”

Through the Internet, people openly discuss the death of people they hate. Luigi Mangione is revered, Ted Kaczynski is praised, and people on both sides of the war between Russia and Ukraine share horror stories about glorifying violence. You can buy a pack of playing cards for “Gaza’s Most Important” on Instagram. Shopify has stopped doing business with Harr but is still selling “COVID’s Most Wanted” decks, which feature many of the same CEOs and their information.

Control is not evenly distributed.
