ChatGPT is taking steps to become a personal assistant with the release of a new feature called Tasks. This may indicate that OpenAI will release more agents in the future.

Currently in beta, Tasks allows ChatGPT Plus, Team and Pro users to schedule tasks in advance.

For example, if someone wants to receive project reminders or daily weather updates, they can activate ChatGPT, which will notify them at a date and time of your choice. Tasks can be repetitive or one-time reminders.

To install a service, users must switch to “4o and scheduled services” on the model selector and write a reminder. ChatGPT can also suggest jobs from previous conversations.

Action works with all forms of ChatGPT and sends notifications via computer, internet and mobile. However, users can contact the service manager only through ChatGPT.

OpenAI said the beta period will help its researchers “understand how people use Tasks and improve the features before making them available to all ChatGPT users.”

Actions interact with other ChatGPT providers. At its “12 Days of OpenAI” event in December, OpenAI introduced screen sharingallowing users to open ChatGPT while reading a message and ask it to help them reply.

First OpenAI supporter?

Rumors surrounding OpenAI releasing an AI assistant swirled around when some users caught ChatGPT offering access to services that had been planned since December. The agent, called the Operator, will be the company’s primary agent.

People believe that Jobs could be a precursor to Operator. X user @kimmonismusaka “Chubby,” he said, “The Information it seems to be fine and everything is getting ready for the release of ‘Operator,’ i.e. the OpenAI agent. The ‘Tasks’ function found by Tibor seems to be the first important step in the preparation of the Operator. It is doubtful whether we will release this month or just a preview. “

Testing Catalog News on X theorized Tasks could eventually allow ChatGPT to search for information, summarize data, open websites, find documents and think about problems.

VentureBeat reached out to OpenAI about Tasks and Operators. The company declined to answer the question and said only that Tasks “will be an important part of making ChatGPT a more effective AI partner.”

OpenAI has already made its debut the sky is the Swarma framework it released to help create AI agents.

Making ChatGPT a better service provider

If you’re like me, you probably use Google’s Reminders and Calendar apps a lot to remind yourself to text a family member Happy Birthday or your brunch plans, or to alert you to blocked news and interviews you’ve scheduled.

There are many reminder, calendar and productivity software available for consumers and businesses. These include Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, Asana, Trello and Notion. Productivity centers are not short of programs that remind people and teams of tasks they need to do.

OpenAI’s big play in the crowded space is exciting, especially since most people don’t think of chatbots as process assistants. But ChatGPT is already changing the way for users to transfer their writing or typing tasks to the platform or to search the web without leaving the chat interface. ChatGPT also opens developers The IDE stands alone for them.

As ChatGPT is adding more activities to its platform, the implementation of scheduled tasks and reminders is not far away. This makes ChatGPT a reliable competitor for many software development and planning.
