Chelsea’s versatile defender Renato Veiga has verbally agreed to join Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund on loan this month, according to a report in Germany.
The Portugal international has impressed during his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge since joining from FC Basel this summer, playing in a variety of roles – often within the same game. However, Veiga struggled to break through at Chelsea Premier League XI, making just one top start all season.
Serie A title challengers Napoli sensed an opportunity to snap up the underused 21-year-old in January, but Antonio Conte’s side are no longer favorites for Veiga.
Borussia Dortmund managed to reach a “full verbal agreement” with Veiga, it said Sky Sport Germany. Bundesliga player, who also has registered their interest in Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka, they are believed to be interested in a loan deal that includes an option to buy.
