Liverpool could potentially have a secret weapon to give them the edge in the exciting saga of the January transfer window, but it looks far from simple.
Sources said CaughtOffside that Paris Saint-Germain continues to lead the race to sign Napoli star Khvich Kvaratskheliaalthough the clubs have yet to agree a fee, which could allow clubs like Liverpool to enter the game.
As it stands, Napoli are demanding €70m for Kvaratskhelia, while PSG have only gone as high as €65m, and it remains to be seen whether a deal will go through, despite the Ligue 1 giants working hard to land the Georgia international as a priority target.
“Decision time” for the Liverpool star!
However, Liverpool are also seen as a club who could enter the race for Kvaratskhelia if things do not work out with PSG, although there have been no concrete talks or approaches yet.
However, the sources indicated that Napoli are interested in LFC winger Federico Chiesawhich could perhaps open up the possibility of a replacement.
Liverpool only signed Chiesa in the summer, but the Italy international has made a slow start to life at Anfield and it is possible he could make a quick return to Serie A.
for now, CaughtOffside he understands that Chiesa wants to stay at Liverpool and fight for his place a little more, so that could complicate things with Napoli.
Kvaratskhelia, however, would certainly represent a major upgrade in Liverpool’s attack, with Chiesa struggling to make a bigger impact thus far, while also being quite injury-prone in recent years.
Kvaratskhelia has been a joy to watch for Napoli and it’s easy to imagine he would fit in well with Arne Sloto’s in-form Liverpool team.
The 23-year-old looks like he would link up well with Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz, but it’s also easy to see why PSG are determined to sign him after losing Kylian Mbappe this summer.
