Unfortunately, his release in Sunday’s 5-2 win over Madrid he lasted less than 30 minutes before he was stopped by a hamstring injury that quickly forced him onto the field. However, Martinez refused treatment until halftime as he wanted to support his teammates from the bench.
When he was finally examined by the medical staff, AS State Martinez was diagnosed with a torn hamstring.
Formal tests will be carried out on Monday, but Martinez is expected to be sidelined for at least the next five weeks.
Depending on the severity of Martinez’s injury, Barcelona could have prevented the January departure of Ronald Araujo, who the subject of interest from both Arsenal and Juventusto ensure that no lights remain behind.
Araujo would likely be a direct replacement for Martinez alongside teenager Pau Cubarsi. Danish national team player Andreas Christensen is slowly recovering from a serious injury, while Eric Garcia could be sold due to strong connections with Girona.
