It’s always exciting when something is promised at CES they actually come to the market. That’s the way it is Walking Stone electric cart that my friend Sam Rutherford looked at CES last year. I was able to see the final draft of the show this week and I was impressed enough. Like the (four!) other sustainable, electric buildings we saw this year, they were sleek and luxurious and decorated with wood, glass, metal and white polymers.
The main features that drew us to Flow last year remain strong: sleeping for four, a 45 kWh battery and 1.1 kW solar panel, a full kitchen and bathroom, a queen Murphy bed that converts into a co-working space and a convertible. dinette at the other end. The kitchen faucet rotates 180 degrees and exits the window to wash the outside.
The Magic Pack extension is still available. At the top, it allows the Flow to stop itself, bump itself and generate itself from the dual motors so it’s not just pulling (literally) on the vehicle it’s towing.
One of the coolest things is still the glass that separates the bathroom from the rest of the house. At the push of a button it goes from transparent to opaque so you can have privacy without having to chase your whole family around in the cart.
For new products, the updates came from prospective customers. One suggestion was “more windows,” so light was added, along with a large window in the back. Cabinets are now easier to access by turning them up instead of down. And the whole shape has been refined to be aerodynamic.
Walking around in the Flow, everything felt refreshing and clean. The bed was so wet that I wanted to melt. The living space was inviting and spacious. It was hard to leave this little cabin (especially considering how hard it is to get a seat at CES). I don’t have a truck capable of pulling a trailer, but I would love to park one of these in my backyard. Even if I don’t take it on the road, I always enjoy its comfort and even (reluctantly) offer it to guests when they visit.
Production on the Flow will begin early this year and shipping is planned for spring. A model without driver assistance and automatic parking will go for $109,500. If you want the Magic Pack package, that brings your price to $135,500. There is also a “Starter’s Edition” with a limited version and some modifications that costs $175,000.
