Influence from Read Orlok in Nosferatu it goes beyond skin deep. And this was created by directed by Robert Eggerswho discussed his decision to break away from the Max Schreck classic Nosferatu appearance and adulterous vampires of today.
“The most admired vampire of today, Edward Cullen from Evening“It’s not dangerous at all,” Eggers said Gold Derby. “So I wanted to go back to the Balkan and Slavic tales of vampires written by or about people who believed vampires existed and were afraid of them. So clearly, there must be something scary about it. And those ancient vampires looked like rotting corpses—just like we think of zombies in modern movies. So that was an interesting theory.”
The last person who played a rotting corpse, surprisingly, plays again Nosferatupublic interest – remember Nicholas Hoult in Warm bodies? Here, it’s Thomas Hutter: a regular man with the power of a rizz decaying over the centuries.
What can we say? Bill Skarsgård’s mustache certainly does that for us Transylvanian protector Tom Selleck, who completely changed our expectations of what a vampire should look and sound like. In the same interview, Eggers continued, “facial hair, not everyone likes them. But, in my opinion, it is important … if you look at the photos of Transylvanian officials, if you find someone without a mustache or a beard, let me know. I think he could have a beard, but, you know, Vlad the Impaler had a mustache. So I heard that it helped him to be in that country and be a part of it more than anything.” It’s historical accuracy, really.
The movie is so dangerous that it comes down to a dead Transylvanian nobleman – who is hell-bent on making life hell for everyone he loves if they don’t do what he wants. Skarsgård shared it Esquire that the drama “had a problem” and that “it was like imagining real evil. It took me a while to get rid of the demon that had crept into me.
Thank the gods of horror, Bill was a fool and did the work to make himself one of the best actors on the screen, proving that vampires can still seduce without the shiny chest or golden locks of his brother Alexander, who played the vampire Eric in. True Blood.
“I’m playing with the magic about the power of the monster and what makes you happy,” said Bill Skarsgård about his performance on Orlok. “I’m sure you’ll be slightly attracted to it and repulsed by your attraction at the same time.” And on Anne Rice, I swear she and Eggers did it. Lestat (both of them) looks like a cute chibi character compared to Skarsgård. They also sound deceptively strong. Really, magic? Bill surpasses Ralph Ineson’s voice in the movie Ralph Ineson has a deep voice that shakes his hips. How can you describe the magic of Lily-Rose Depp as Ellen Hutter?
Orlok is a real passion. It’s good, if you squint hard enough Skarsgård’s eyes go through the disheveled side-swoop on his sick scabby face. We find out why Ellen jumped to her death there, a shockingly certain destruction of beauty and the beast. A story as old as time.
