Manchester City are through to the fourth round of the FA Cup after a convincing 8-0 win over League Two Salford City at the Etihad.
Salford-born James McAtee scored a first senior hat-trick as City avoided a major cup win with a ruthless performance that will be a welcome confidence boost for Pep Guardiola and his players.
The excellent Jeremy Doku scored twice, while Jack Grealish, Nico O’Reilly and debutant Divin Mubama completed the rout and continued the Premier League champions’ good start to 2025.

On the other hand, Championship leaders Leeds United were outclassed by Harrogate Town in League Two at Elland Road.
The game was goalless at half-time, but Largie Ramazani struck just before the hour mark to secure Daniel Farke’s side a place in the next round.
The Championship-wide contest between Coventry and Sheffield Wednesday went all the way to penalties after the two sides could not be separated for more than 120 minutes.
Liam Kitching gave Frank Lampard’s side the lead with 26 minutes remaining and kept their lead deep into second-half stoppage time.
However, Wednesday’s Anthony Musaba equalized with 93 minutes on the clock to send the game into extra time.
Neither team could find a winner during the extra half hour so the tie had to be decided in a shootout which Coventry won 4-3.
