Honda believes in you I want to talk to your car.
The Japanese automaker this week shared the new 0 Series, the latest in electric vehicles. Two EVs, the 0 Saloon and the 0 SUV, will debut in 2026, with sleek, whisper-quiet styling. the future. Electric power is only part of the innovation that has been planned, Honda officials promised on stage at CES in Las Vegas. In a presentation at the show, Honda’s head of electronics Katsushi Inoue emphasized the “new level of intelligent car technology” developed in the 0 series.
“Honda’s approach to innovation has always been human-centered,” he said, then showed off something different: a talking robot built into a car.
To show the robot in action, Honda took a look short video which showed the driver talking freely with He-like a system that sits inside his electric car, and a chatbot with Siri animations on the list. “Saloon is my friend, he is always by my side, he opens me up to new things and expands my world,” said the Saloon driver in a promotional video. “Tell me more about yourself,” said the car. “Yes,” the driver replied.
The 0 Series will come with a new production system, Asimo, mentioned later Honda’s road-killing robot since the 1980s. This onboard OS is designed to continuously adjust the experience according to the driver’s preferences. The system will “allow Honda to provide a personalized experience that will enhance driving pleasure,” the press release said.
Indeed, evidence that automakers hope to rekindle drivers’ intimate relationships with their cars was all over Las Vegas.
“It was the theme of CES: You’re talking to machines. You’re not interacting with people,” says Jessica Caldwell, chief information officer at Edmunds. “Everywhere you look, there are robots.”
Many automakers and retailers have turned the experience and laser design towards changing the preferences of drivers through interior and exterior software – and finding new ways to keep them entertained inside a closed (and maybe lonely?) cabin.
