It’s no secret that Marcus Rashford seems to have been dropped from Ruben Amorim’s squad in recent weeks.
After the report which Manchester United have approved the potential sale of the 27-year-old fast forward to a few weeks ago, things have barely improved.
The English international, once the jewel in the crown at Old Trafford, was not included in the Portuguese head coach’s squad for four games:
The fifth game (Liverpool away) was missed due to illness.
Rashford registered seven goals and three assists in 24 appearances (in all competitions) in the 2024/25 season.
There is an outlet for Marcus Rashford, if he wants it.
Christian Falk is now reporting that Borussia Dortmund are ‘considering a move’ for United’s troubled striker. However, this have to come after the Bundesliga parted ways with Donyella Malen.
“It is true that Dortmund is thinking about the transfer of Marcus Rashford. The transfer is being discussed within the club, although it is not yet a hot topic. The Manchester United striker is on the shortlist along with several other candidates,” the A BILD journalist told CaughtOffside in his exclusive Fact Files column.
“However, any move must be preceded by the sale of Donyell Malen. Rashford’s salary remains a big obstacle for BVB – he earns over 20 million euros at United.
“Specifically, clubs from Saudi Arabia are ready to almost double that and have offered a salary of 40 million euros. For this potential move to work, as with Jadon Sancho, the Red Devils would have to be prepared to cover the bulk of the wages.”
BVB may be forced to step things up, of course, if the somewhat questionable speculation about the relationship Arsenal’s alleged interest in the footballer is really on the money.
At his absolute best (and without any internal club drama), there is no doubt that Marcus Rashford is one of the best attacking talents in Europe.
Perhaps the opportunity to rediscover himself on the continent, on the same ground as fellow England internationals Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham, could turn out to be more than ideal.
In any case, an escape from the constant buzz surrounding his future and status at Manchester United would certainly be a welcome possibility.
