“I don’t know what they are planning” – the Premier League manager urged Chelsea not to invite the star

The Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has urged injury-hit Chelsea not to recall Trevoh Chalobah following the Blues’ recent 1-1 Premier League draw at Selhurst Park.

Enzo Maresca’s side, who loaned Chalobah to the Eagles last August, are currently in the midst of an injury crisis. Wesley Fofana could miss the rest of the current season and Benoit Badiashile is also now nursing a knee injury.

Due to the current situation, Maresca were forced to start Josh Acheampong at centre-back against Crystal Palace earlier this Saturday. When asked about his side’s plans in the winter transfer window, he replied (h/t Football Transfers):

“Even if we don’t decide to buy or sell players, we already knew Josh was good enough. But with injuries to Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana, we’ll see if something can happen.”

Following the conclusion of the Premier League contest at Selhurst Park, Glasner gave his two cents on the possibility Chelsea remembering Chalobah this month. He stated (h/t Football Transfers):

“I could see that Axel Disasi and Tosin Adarabioyo are on the bench. I don’t know if you need one more if you play with two. I just read that Aaron Anselmino (is) back so they have five. I don’t know what they are planning Trevoh us good going.”

So far this campaign, Chalobah has started all 14 of his appearances in all competitions for Glasner’s outfit. He performed at 12 Premier League match, shook the net three times and picked up a yellow card, for them.

Enzo Maresca assesses Chelsea’s poor form

Following Chelsea’s 1-1 league draw at Selhurst Park, Enzo Maresca was asked to comment on his side’s poor form. He replied (h/t football.london):

“Two or three weeks ago we talked about the title race. I never thought about (the title race). We knew Newcastle (United), Aston Villa and Manchester City were going to be there, so for me it’s not on the table, it’s is about how we can improve things.”

Maresca, who left Leicester City to join the Blues in 2024, continued:

“Today’s performance was very good on and off the ball. I knew at this point in the season that in every season it will happen that some teams will not win some games. The reason why, I think every game is different. Sometimes I think from one, and sometimes for another reason.”

Chelsea, who are fourth with 36 points from 20 league games, enjoyed 62% possession and had 15 shots in their encounter against Crystal Palace.

The Blues will perform next Morecambe in the FA Cup on January 11.
