The top Democrat on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee opposes the timing of a hearing for Trump’s Energy Secretary Chris Wright, saying Republicans are moving forward with the nomination even though it is not yet has received some paperwork, including Wright’s financial disclosure. .
It is the second such complaint filed by Senator Martin Heinrich (DN.M.) in as many days, saying at the beginning of the week that Democrats are also missing documentation related to Interior Secretary nominee Doug Burgum.
In a new letter to Speaker Mike Lee (R-Utah) obtained by The Hill late Wednesday, Heinrich said he would not consent to Wright’s hearing because he has not received the candidate’s financial disclosure.
A spokesman said the Democrats also had not received other ethics forms.
“The American people deserve transparency about the individuals appointed to serve them in the incoming administration,” Heinrich wrote.
“I urge you to adhere to the long-standing precedent of this Committee and to take seriously your constitutional responsibilities by waiting to hear from this hearing until we receive the information necessary to ensure that this process is thorough and complete,” he said. to add
