Now that many new headphones and earphones offer less and less noise cancellation, it’s impossible (and unprofitable) to list all of our favorites above. If you haven’t found your fit, here are some options to consider.
Soundcore Life Q30 for $60-85: Anker’s Soundcore line is nothing if not noteworthy, and the Life Q30 offers an impressive array of features at their underground prices. You’ll have clear and warm sound, good looks, tons of battery life, and noise-cancellation that will get the job done even on a long trip, even if it can’t match a pair of familiar ones. It’s hard to complain when prices drop, especially with retail prices that sometimes drop below $50.
Soundcore Space A40 for $60: Another high-end purchase from Anker’s Soundcore brand, the Space A40 (8/10, WIRED Recommends) are some of our favorite affordable headphones, especially when prices drop. You’ll find great design, great features, great sound, and noise canceling for their units.
Apple Beats Fit Pro for $199: The Beats Fit Pro are an old but still solid wireless pair, with great sound, easy physical buttons, and solid noise canceling. Add to that six hours of battery life, local listening with Apple Music and other services, and you have one of the best headphones “made in California.”
Sony WF-1000XM4 for $290: Sony’s WF-1000XM4 (7/10, WIRED Recommends) we still have some of the best noise reduction we’ve ever heard from a pair of headphones and deliver the highly flexible sound we’ve come to love from Sony headphones. These are becoming harder to find, and are a bit large for smaller ears but the extra size allows for better battery life.
Amazon Echo Buds for $45: The second version of the Amazon Echo Buds (8/10, WIRED Recommends) doesn’t offer the same silence as the top sites on our list, but it’s still a great affordable option. Amazon’s built-in Alexa voice assistant lets you set the time, check the weather, and control your pages hands-free. The leaves also feel good, making them worth considering for several years.
Epos/Sennheiser Adapt 660 for $152: Want better sound, better sound quality, and better noise canceling capabilities for less than what you’d pay for Sony or Bose headphones? Check out this collaboration between Epos and Sennheiser. The Epos/Sennheiser Adapt 660 (8/10, WIRED Recommends) sound amazing, and are some of the lightest headphones I’ve ever worn. They also have a great microphone for keeping quiet on calls and Zooms.
