It turns out that Roborock isn’t the only company that brought a robotic vacuum cleaner with a mechanical arm to CES 2025. The rival company, Dreame, unveiled its own. to climb the stairs robot vacuum at the beginning of the week, it is also working to remove the robots and the arm for picking things up.
The device is still a prototype, according to the company, but the as-yet-unnamed robo vac was shown off at Dreame’s CES booth. Considering it’s still a model, the actual arm looks a lot bigger than the original Roborock’s Saros Z70. It was very thick and had a large “claw” that seemed to be able to pick up slightly heavy objects. (Roborock says its vac can hold an object weighing up to 300 grams.)
Unfortunately, Dreame wasn’t showing any signs of catching anything, but I was able to watch the arm grow and retract a few times. It seemed to be on a device similar to the X50 where the color wheel was also moved on “legs,” similar to Dreame’s X50 steps.
A Dream executive on the scene told me that the company has been working on the project for a while, but decided to accelerate its plans to take it out of CES. After a quick look, I knew what he was talking about: The Dreame board is directly from Roborock, which shows a large image of the Saros Z70 with an arm above its cabin.
Maybe next year we will see two robot vacuums fight.
