Actor James Woods posted a video of a fire that engulfed his neighbor’s house Pacific Palisadesan epicenter of one of three wildfires ravaging the Los Angeles area.
The Emmy Award-winning actor shared the video on Tuesday on social platform X with the title “Marchant”. In the video, Woods said he was preparing to evacuate the area.
In a later online post, he thanked firefighters and other local authorities who continue to work to contain wildfires in the region.
“We were fortunate to have the LA Police and Fire Departments doing their jobs so well. We are out of danger. There are several elementary schools in our neighborhood and there was a huge community effort to evacuate the children safely ” Woods said. he wrote tuesday “I cannot speak more highly of LA Fire and the LAPD.”
The fire in Pacific Palisades is one of four expanding to California. It has burned nearly 3,000 hectares without containment
“Extreme fire behavior, including short- and long-range observation, continues to challenge Palisades firefighting efforts,” the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) said. “Wind gusts up to 60 MPH are expected to continue through Thursday, potentially aiding further fire activity and suppression efforts.”
The second fire, the Eaton Fire, also started Tuesday, prompting evacuation orders and forcing all schools in the Pasadena Unified School District to close Wednesday. The Hurst fire, which started Tuesday night, is expanding with strong winds and has burned at least 500 acres, according to CalFire.
The Tyler fire started Wednesday morning.
The cause of the fires is under investigation, according to CalFire. In response, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) declared a state of emergency while the White House directed federal resources to help local officials.
