Jean-Noël Barrot, French Minister of Foreign Affairs On Wednesday, he said flatly that the European Union will not allow President-elect Trump to take Greenland by military force.
“It is beyond doubt that the European Union allowed other countries … to attack their sovereign borders, whoever they are,” Barrot told French radio. according to Politico.
Barrot added that he doubts Trump will take the extraordinary step of invading Greenland.
“If you ask me if I think the United States will invade Greenland, my answer is no. But have we entered a time period where it’s survival of the fittest? Then my answer is yes,” Barrot said.

The harsh warning comes after Trump made several statements in which he said the island territory was vital to America’s national security and economic interests and expressed interest in buying it from Denmark. He has made similar comments about the boot the Panama Canal of Panamanian control after the US left the canal in 1977.
On Tuesday, the new US president would not rule out the use of military force to gain control of Greenland or the Panama Canal when asked about the issue at a press conference.
A reporter asked Trump if he could assure the world that he would not use military or economic coercion to gain control of the Panama-Greenland Canal.
“No, I can’t assure you about either of those two. But I can say this, we need them for economic security,” Trump said.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stressed on Tuesday that Greenland is not for sale.
Frederiksen told a Danish television station that Greenlandic Prime Minister Mute Egede “has been very, very clear that there is a lot of support among the people of Greenland that Greenland is not for sale and will not be for sale in the future Frederiksen said. The Hill.

In a Truth Social post on Monday, Trump said he was “listening to this the people of Greenland they are ‘MAGA.'” The Republican attached a video purportedly showing a Greenlander asking the US to buy his country.
Trump’s son arrived in Nuuk, the capital of the Arctic territory, on Tuesday. He met with local people, visited cultural sites and recorded a video for a podcast. The president-elect released a video showing a plane with the word “TRUMP” landing in Nuuk.
“Don Jr. and my representatives are landing in Greenland,” Trump wrote. “The reception has been great. They and the Free World need safety, security, strength and PEACE! This is a deal that must happen. MAGA. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!”
At Tuesday’s news conference, Trump said of Greenland: “Denmark should give it up.”
