Versatile Washington Sundar shared his honest thoughts after India’s defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The 25-year-old took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to express his emotions and offer hope for the future.
“It’s not the result we were hoping for, but this trip was unforgettable. We left everything on the field and are proud of the heart and resilience the team showed. A huge thank you to the fans for their incredible support – we felt it every step of the way. On to the next one,” Sundar announced.
The young all-rounder has earned his place in the Indian Test squad for the Granica-Gavaskar Trophy after an impressive home series against New Zealand. He managed to pick up 16 wickets while also scoring 89 runs despite India’s 3-0 series loss at home.
In the series against AustraliaSundar managed to pick up 3 wickets and scored 114 runs in 3 Tests.
Sundar missed the day-night Test in Adelaide and the match at The Gabba due to rain. However, he made his mark in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. He scored a fighting 50 in the first innings, showing grit and determination with the bat. Although his off-spin yielded just one wicket in that match, his batting resilience earned praise.

In the fourth Test in Sydney, Sundar’s batting efforts failed, he scored 14 and 12 in two innings. The pitch offered little help to the spinners, and Sundar bowled just one run in the entire match—the last over of the game.
