RadioShack is back (sort of)

The 21st century has not been kind to RadioShack. The once-dominant electronics retailer couldn’t compete with big box stores like Best Buy and online retail juggernaut Amazon.

February 2015 saw the company delisted from the New York Stock Exchange before declaring bankruptcy later that month. Later that year, RadioShack began the process of closing nearly 2,000 brick-and-mortar stores.

In 2023, the Unicomer Group acquired the international rights to the company – appropriately, as El Salvador companies control those still operating in Central and South America. At CES 2025 this week, the company gave a preview of what the deal means for the US.

To capitalize on its long-standing name in technology, Unicomer is adding the RadioShack brand to its consumer electronics division. This includes things like a Bluetooth speaker with RGB lighting ($58), a gaming chair ($250), headphones ($28), and a projector ($112).
