Errol Musk, father of billionaire Elon Musk, has suggested that his son may be interested in buying Liverpool Football Club.
Speaking to Times Radio, Musk senior revealed the family’s connection to the city and shared insights into the tech genius’ potential interest in Premier League leaders.
Musk Sr. explained the family’s historic ties to Liverpool, as Elon’s paternal grandmother, Cora Amelia Robinson, was born there before moving to South Africa.
“He would like to (buy Liverpool), yes, obviously,” Musk Sr. said. “Everyone would want that – and I would!
“His grandmother was born in Liverpool and we have relatives in Liverpool. We were lucky enough to know quite a few Beatles because they grew up with some of my family.
“So we’re bound for Liverpool, you know . . .”
While discussing the purchase idea, Musk Sr. expressed concern that Fenway Sports Group (FSG), Liverpool’s current owners, could raise the price if they were aware of Elon Musk’s interest.

This is not the first time that Musk’s name has been associated with the ownership of a football club. In 2022, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX caused a stir on social media when he tweeted that he was buying Manchester United.
“I welcome Manchester United,” Musk announced, sparking outrage among fans.
The tweet quickly garnered tens of thousands of retweets and over 200,000 likes. However, he later clarified that it was a joke, replying to a comment on the original post by saying: “No, this is a running joke on Twitter. I don’t buy any sports teams. Although, if it was any team, it would be Man Utd. They were my favorite team as a kid.
“And I don’t buy Coca-Cola to put cocaine back in it, despite the extreme popularity of such a move.”
Although Errol Musk’s comments have reignited speculation about Elon Musk’s entry into the world of football ownership, the billionaire has not confirmed any plans to buy Liverpool.
Fans will no doubt be watching closely to see if the Tesla CEO makes a serious move to expand his empire into the Premier League.
