At CES 2025, Anker unveiled its first solar umbrella, designed to charge electronic devices – such as air conditioners or smartphones – while outdoors. The new umbrella is part of Anker’s SOLIX line, which includes zero-energy products such as portable power stations and solar generators that power household appliances during blackouts and emergencies.
While many solar beach umbrellas are available on the market, Anker’s products are known for their use of perovskite solar cells. According to the company, these cells provide 30% better performance than crystalline silicon solar cells in bright light and twice as much in low light. Like any solar powered device, these umbrellas can help reduce pollution and lower greenhouse gas emissions. It’s also a great addition to your beach day packing list.
Anker announced this umbrella along with other new products at CES 2025, including the second generation EverFrost electric cooler and a karaoke speaker with AI voice cancellation. The company probably hopes that customers will see the umbrella as a cool electronic accessory, since it can be attached to the cooler. Alternatively, it can be set up with a representative base.
Umbrella provides up to 80 watts of power to portable devices via USB-C. It can also power the EverFrost 2 or other handheld devices using the XT-60 connector, which connects power from the battery to the motor or other electronics.
Anker did not reveal the price of the umbrella, but it is expected to be available in the spring or summer.
