UFC CEO Dana White will join the Meta team, the company announced today. The combination of the mixed martial arts game and the CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg. well documented UFC fandomand Meta’s broader approach seems to be using a nod to Trump’s second word: right.
This does not mean that White’s seat on the board is the same, however. Most of Meta’s board members work in the technology industry. The two members of Meta are adding along with White, John Elkann and Charlie Songhurst, which is in line with the social media company’s preferences. White would say he’s “a big believer in social media and AI is the future” in Meta’s press release, but the company he keeps is the most important reason he’s joining now.
Dana White and President-elect Donald Trump they have been friends for years. White supported Trump’s re-election campaign, and the entire UFC is aligned with the interests of powerful people. Putting White on the board is as much about warming Zuckerberg’s image as having access to the Trump Presidency. The president-elect can once you thought that Zuckerberg should be “in prison for the rest of his life,” but the CEO of Meta is doing everything he can to find him.
Zuckerberg went to Mar-A-Lago in November 2024 to have dinner with Trump, one of several tech CEOs to do so. Meta has also been changing their roles to work better with the conservative government. Former company president Nick Clegg he announced that he was coming down last week, to be replaced by Meta Republican CEO Joel Kaplan. Kaplan’s career spans eight years in the Bush Administration. Zuckerberg has been in UFC mode for a while now, and it looks like for the next four years, Meta will be too.
