Hoops fans have expressed concern over Flory Kuminga’s brother NBA player Jonathan Kumingasuggesting that he may be too advanced for his current high school grade. As one of the top prospects in the 2028 class, many believe Flory is vastly overqualified to be in the eighth grade.
Reacting to Flory Kuminga’s highlight reel posted on Ballislife’s Instagram page, some fans questioned his decision to reclassify:
“How old is he?”
“He’s 13?”
“8. class?? Yeah right.. this reclassification is getting out of hand!”
“He’s in 8th grade again?”
“How is he in 8th grade if he just played Arts which is a high school in Newark, NJ”
“lol 40 year old 8th graders now”
“Double Reclass. Plus he will play 2 years of Junior College after HS and be 24,25,26,27 in D1 links😂”
“At first glance I thought it was Cam Whitmore. The kid is a beast, but definitely 15-16 vs. 14 in 8th grade🤷🏾♂️😫🤣”
Despite the chatter among fans, Flory Kuminga seems to be a special talent. The 6-foot-6 forward played a key role for North Charlotte in its win over Lake Norman Christian last Saturday.
Kuminga contributed 12 points on 43% shooting from the field, helping North Charlotte to a 53-48 victory. Brother of Golden State Warriors star Jonathan Kuminga has had a good start to his high school career.
