Current Backyard held its first CES last year and smart electric grill and griddlebut in 2025, the company is going in a different direction. Looking to help pizza ovenThe company unveiled the Model P Smart Pizza Oven in Las Vegas. As you might expect, the device is all-electric, but it’s approved for both indoor and outdoor use. The “smart” part of the Secret here is Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity that provides access to devices in the company’s software.
The company says the Model P can heat up to 850 degrees Fahrenheit, a level at which a Neapolitan pie can cook in two minutes. In comparison, it produces the same amount of heat as the pricier Aries Volt 12. Current Backyard explains that the internal design of its electric oven uses an algorithm along with graphite on the top and rotating material on the bottom of the stone to ensure even heat. The company says this design also eliminates the need to flip pizzas during cooking. A cordierite cooking stone helps to make the crust, especially for baking.
In addition, Current Backyard says the Model P will quickly recover between pizzas so that cooking can continue. In fact, the company explains that you can cook three Neapolitan-style pizzas in about 10 minutes.
Model P has five cooking modes for different types of pizza and other functions: Neapolitan, New York, thin crust, dry pizza and broil function with high and low settings. The presets can be selected on the oven or with a program. Also within the company’s software, there is a Pizza Build Calculator that provides cooking time and temperature based on the selected style and ingredients. This tool takes into account the amount of sauce, cheese and toppings along with the thickness of the dough. You can also choose to do well if you’re like me and like your pies extra crispy.
Behind the Scenes didn’t include an exact date for the Model P announcement, but it did say that the pizza oven will cost $599 when it goes on sale sometime in Q2. You’ll be able to purchase accessories and an external trailer for the Model P, adding the latter for $399.
