Speaking to SEN Radio, Hockley expressed his disappointment at the altercation on the pitch, saying:
“Physical contact on the cricket field is a complete no-no. It wasn’t great. It’s clear that by accepting the charge, Virat is showing that he has taken responsibility, and I thought Sam Konstas showed great maturity in dismissing it politely.”
The clash, which occurred at a time of intense competition, resulted in Kohli being fined 20% of his match fee by the International Cricket Council (ICC). While some debated the appropriateness of the penalty, Hockley refrained from speculating on the decision, leaving it to the match officials.
“We have a very experienced judicial committee, and Virat accepted the charge. The code is clear, and it is up to the match referee to make decisions in the normal course,” Hockley added.

“I think it was a brave and gutsy decision. Looking at the top order, it was exciting to see all four players hit 50s yesterday. Sam’s ability to adapt and solve problems was a highlight for me. His innovative shot execution, including some impressive ramps, showed are a new era of cricket,” Hockley said.
The young batsman’s composure under pressure, coupled with his impressive performances in the Sheffield Shield and PM XI, have made him an exciting addition to the squad.
