In front of the official start of CESSamsung is he announced three new Odyssey game reviewers. In this category, the G81SF is the most interesting. Samsung claims it’s the first 4K, 27-inch OLED gaming monitor. The panel has a refresh rate of 240Hz and a pixel response time of 0.03ms gray to gray.
At 4K and 27 inches, the pixel density clocks in at 165 pixels per inch, which means that the G81SF should produce a very sharp image. Since Samsung is the leading supplier of QD-OLEDs, the G81SF series will be the go-to for other gaming monitors released this year. With CES 2025 just around the corner, some of these could be announced as soon as in the next few days.
If you don’t want to sacrifice quality for sound, Samsung has you covered there as well. The second Odyssey gaming monitor the company announced, the G60SF, features a 500Hz refresh rate. The resolution is limited to 2,560 x 1,440 for this model, but the G6 and G8 described above will offer VESA True Black 400-certified HDR performance, so the G60SF will still be good for single-player games and exceptional for competitive games like. Overwatch 2 and Appreciationthanks to the 500Hz refresh rate.
The release of the new Odyssey monitors Samsung announced today is a surprise and return to CES. The 27-inch G90XF has a lenticular lens attached to the front of its panel and a stereo camera, meaning you can use it to view content in 3D without wearing 3D glasses. The G90XF includes an AI software that Samsung says can convert 2D video into 3D, but if we were to guess, the results would be less than perfect.
If you use your computer for productivity, Samsung has not forgotten and what the company has released here is nothing short of impressive. First, there is the Smart Monitor M9 (M90SF). It has a 32-inch 4K OLED panel that offers True Black 400 HDR performance. It also comes with Samsung’s space-saving Easy Setup Stand, but what sets the M90SF apart from the rest of the monitors Samsung has announced today are a number of AI features included with it. The first, called AI Picture Optimizer, analyzes the input signal from your PC to automatically adjust the M9’s display to create the best possible picture for what you’re using, be it a game, video or streaming program. The other side can upscale content up to 4K.
Finally, there’s the ViewFinity S8. It’s not OLED, but 37 inches, it’s the biggest 16:9 4K monitor Samsung has ever offered. It offers 99% sRGB color gamut coverage, a built-in KVM switch and 90W USB-C power delivery. It’s not the most exciting monitor in Samsung’s new lineup, but it should appeal to designers who want a bigger screen but can’t deal with the clutter of the ultrawide lineup.
Samsung did not share pricing and availability information for the monitors it announced today. Expect more to come after CES.
