Teofimo Lopez told Devin Haney he was thinking about his March 25 fight, calling him a “punk k***” on social networks. WBO welterweight champion Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) appears bitter that Devin did not accept the offer to fight him.
The offer was $2.4 million with a 55-45 split in favor of Teofimo, who feels he deserved a bigger cut because he is the “king” of the 140 lb division. Haney is only a former champion, after losing to Ryan Garcia on April 20th.
Haney (31-0, 15 KO) will next fight on March 25 at BLT Prime against a yet-to-be-announced opponent. The boxing public will be very interested in who Haney will face in that match as he can choose almost anyone.
Fighters aren’t afraid to take on Haney after Garcia exposed him in a 12 round majority decision win. He looked so bad in that loss to Kingry that the wolves at 140 are circling him, seeing him as easy prey. One of the wolves is Teofimo. He knows wounded prey when he sees it.
Many trust Ryan Garcia ruined Haney, and he is no longer considered elite or A-level. His decision to fight next at BLT Prime on March 25 reinforces fans’ belief that Devin is mentally and physically destroyed.
Devin hit the deck three times in that fight, and many believe the referee saved him from being knocked out in the seventh round by stopping the action to take away a point from Ryan for striking on the break.
Teo had the guts to offer something to someone, but here he is begging.. I told that nigga he was fighting for peanuts as long as he was with Bob! I make real MONEY

At the time, Haney was on the verge of being knocked out by Garcia. Given that Haney’s defeat was later overturned by the New York State Athletic Commission, it wouldn’t have mattered if Ryan had knocked him out.
Teofimo is expected to fight former IBF 140lb champion Subriel Matias (21-2, 21 KOs) on March 15th on ESPN+ in a Top Rank-promoted card. Lopez has had a hard time getting big names to fight him.
He called out Terence Crawford, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, Haney, Ryan Garcia and Gervont Davis. The only ones interested in fighting Lopez are lightweight contenders Keyshawn Davis and Matias. He’s not interested in fighting Keyshawn because he’s not a star.
