Indian cricket team captain Jasprit Bumrah was the star of his side in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The superb fast bowler gave the Australian National Cricket Team batsmen a tough time during the five-match Test series.
Jasprit Bumrah was by far the best pacer in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 as he did his best with the ball and kept his team in the hunt. The speedster did his best with the ball but unfortunately fell on the wrong side of the score as Australian National Cricket won the series by a 3-1 margin.
Bumrah was exceptional with the ball, but the Australian media and fans accused him of using sandpaper in the series. All this made headlines when a video of the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team changing his shoes went viral on the internet.
In that video, Bumrah can be seen picking up his shoes, and while doing so, some unidentified object also fell out. However, the fast bowler took it in hand and re-tied his shoes and since then the Indian national cricket team fast bowler has been under extensive scans.
The video has been doing the rounds on the internet for some time and even one of the X users claimed that the ICC is investigating the case for ball tampering. That was the talk of the town until Ravichandran Ashwin took matters into his own hands.
Ravichandran Ashwin, responding to a fan who said the ICC was investigating the matter, confirmed that it was not sandpaper but a toe pad that fast bowlers keep between their toes inside their shoes.
He said on his Twitter: “It’s a finger pad🤣🤣“
It’s a finger protection pad🤣🤣 https://t.co/5SMzNCGI8N

As for Bumrah, it is undoubtedly one of the best series of his career in terms of the impact he has made. The vice-captain of the Indian national cricket team seemed to be the lone warrior for the team with the ball in the series and even made some handy runs in crucial matches.
On the bowling front, Jasprit Bumrah was the leading wicket-taker in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The pacer picked 32 wickets in 5 matches to become India’s bowler with the most wickets in a Test series. The result could have been higher, but he was injured.
Bumrah suffered a back spasm in a match at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He only hit more in the first innings and then no more in the second innings. His absence was conspicuous as the Indian national cricket team lost the match by a margin of 6 wickets.
