Tenable CEO Amit Yoran has died

A longtime entrepreneur and cybersecurity executive Amit Yoran died on Friday after a battle with cancer.

Cybersecurity company Tenable, where Yoran was CEO and chairman, announced his death press release. Before becoming CEO of Tenable in 2016, he held several positions including President of RSA, founding CEO of NetWitness, and CEO of In-Q-Tel.

In a statement, Tenable independent director Art Coviello described Yoran as “a wonderful leader, colleague and friend.”

“His passion for cybersecurity, his innovative vision, and his ability to inspire those around him have transformed Tenable’s culture and mission,” Coviello said. “His legacy will continue to guide us as we move forward.”

Tenable said Yoran had been hospitalized since Dec. 5, and CFO Steve Vintz and COO Mark Thurmond were named CEOs in his place. He will continue in those roles while the company searches for a full-time CEO.
