Leicester City are reportedly interested in signing Southampton defender Kyle Walker-Peters.
The 27-year-old defender is in the final months of his contract with the English club and Leicester are hoping to secure his services for a nominal fee this month, according to Sky Sportswith. Alternatively, they could sign him on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Walker-Peters has been a reliable player for Southampton, and there is no doubt that he could be a useful acquisition for Leicester City as well. The Foxes looked quite vulnerable defensively and need quality reinforcements to help them tighten up at the back.
Walker-Peters will help them further. It remains to be seen whether Lisice will be able to close the deal. Southampton have had a disastrous campaign so far and are favorites to be relegated at the end of the season.
Walker-Peters will certainly want to compete at a high level and it remains to be seen where she ends up. He was linked to West Ham and his former club Tottenham at the beginning of the season.
Meanwhile, Leicester are not at their best either and are very much in the fight for survival. It will be interesting to see if they can secure Premier League safety this season. This could be crucial to their prospects of signing quality players.
Meanwhile, signing a player like Walker-Peters on a free transfer in the summer would be a masterstroke for Leicester. He has the quality and experience to improve them and would be a cheap addition.
It will be interesting to see if Leicester can raise their performance levels over the next few months and secure Premier League safety. There is no doubt that they have a quality team and that they have failed this season.
