As Zimbabwe and Afghanistan once again in the second and final test match of the series, the memory of rain-soaked runs is still fresh in the minds of both teams. The Queens Sports Club became a batsman’s paradise for both teams in the previous encounter, although the match ended in a draw.
The hosts will be looking forward to the continuation of the series of shots they gained in the first test. Afghanistan, however, disappointed with the outcome of the previous Test due to rain on the final day and brave resistance from the Zimbabwean batsmen, will look forward to a series win in Zimbabwe and end the tour with their heads held high.
The pitch at Queens Sports Club is expected to remain batting friendly like the Boxing Day Test. However, like the last day of the previous test, a gentle downpour from the rain gods may change its nature a bit for this test as well. The field is expected to turn around a bit as the Test match enters its final days of action. Therefore, spin bowlers can cause problems for the batsmen as the match progresses.
Weather can play a crucial role in a team’s decision to bat or bowl first after winning the toss. However, given the way the toss performed in the previous Test, the team that won the toss will generally look to bat first and put scoreboard pressure on the other team.
