Michael van Gerwen said he expects his final against Luke Littler or Stephen Bunting to be “unbelievable” after claiming his seventh World Darts Championship semi-final win.
Three-time champion Van Gerwen ended a six-year wait to go all the way in the tournament with a 6-1 victory over Chris Dobey in the final four at London’s Alexandra Palace.

“It’s something to worry about tomorrow – I don’t care,” the Dutchman told Sky Sports when asked about the prospect of facing Littler or Bunting in Friday’s decider (20:00 GMT).
βIt’s going to be amazing… there were a lot of fantastic moments. The crowd loves it, the people at home love it β what more could you want? This is darts at the highest level and that’s what we want to do.”

In his first semi-final of the tournament, Dobey missed three darts for a double game to level the match before Van Gerwen took advantage to take a 2-0 lead.
Van Gerwen appeared to occasionally cruise his way past Dobey, including a 158 checkout during the sixth set en route to a 98.84 average.

Dobey averaged 94.77 but did not reach the heights he always needed to, finishing with a respectable score as part of a run that will put the Englishman in the top 10 in the world.
“I love performing on stage,” Van Gerwen said. “It’s my passion, it’s my life. I really enjoyed tonight. We are still far (from victory).
“I still have to fight. (Friday) is another day, and the title is a long way off. That’s what you have to keep telling yourself. I don’t want to make mistakes. I want it to stay that way.”

βA 99 average is not that bad. I’m happy with the performance… I was effective,” Van Gerwen added. βWhen I had to do something, I did it at the right time and that’s what you have to do to win games.
βYou always have ups and downs, but today I had the right mentality. Even when I wasn’t doing well, I was producing good things at the right times.
“Winning on this stage, especially in the semifinals, means a lot to me. My family is watching and that means a lot to me.β
Heavy favorite Littler meets Stephen Bunting in the other semi-final straight after Van Gerwen’s win on Thursday.
