Telegram has released its first update of the year, adding a third-party account verification feature, new search filters, and the ability to convert gifts into NFTs.
The chat app was already there social security program and institutions on the platform, and now launched a new function to allow already-confirmed third-party authorities, such as food quality regulators or educational consortiums, to confirm the issue.
Accounts that are verified by a third party will have a new logo next to their name instead of a blue marker.
“This popular re-verification system is helping to prevent fraud and reduce fake news – it’s a unique and sustainable approach that sets a new level of security for platforms,” the Telegraph said in a blog post.
Individuals or organizations seeking certification must first be certified and complete registration to be eligible to receive the badge. Telegram said organizations can use its Bot API to provide or remove authentication — similar to organizations that purchase authentication on X and verify their affiliate accounts. These associated accounts will have organization logo on their profile when confirmed.
Telegram also implemented a way to convert gifts into NFTs with custom images. Users can send gifts using Telegraph Stars, which you can buy through the app or through Fragment page by linking their TON crypto wallet.
Telegram said users will be able to trade these NFTs on various platforms. In particular, Telegraph pays users to raise their gifts to collect money for blockchain purchases.
Telegram has used cryptocurrencies making money for producers and for payment on the platform for games and mini programs.
The company has also released an emoji feature for service messages, such as a group joiner, as well as new filters for private chats, group chats, and directions.
