People are playing the CAPTCHA for the new DOOM theme


CAPTCHA software used to determine whether a site visitor is a human or a bot comes in many forms. Consider word squiggles (where users type the letters they see into a box among other squiggles); recognize images (selecting, say, all the squares in the grid with the image of a bicycle); and confirmation box (you click on the box that says: “I’m not a robot”).

But Guillermo Rauch, CEO of Vercel, a forward-looking service-as-a-service, just used the company. AI website builder to come up with a new twist on CAPTCHAs, which asks users to play the classic DOOM single-player game and kill at least three monsters. You can check Here.

Not a completely original concept (DoOM as part of CAPTCHA). But it continues to top the charts on Hacker News, whose audience is mostly developers they have recordsothers are complaining that it is too difficult, someone praises the task as “a lot of metal,” and another said: “There are so many monsters, it took me 3-4 tries … like a real captcha!”
