Scopely has pulled in billions with $10B in revenue to date


Scopely announced several milestones achieved to date: $10 billion in lifetime revenue for its mobile games and multi-billion downloads for its entire division.

In a GamesBeat exclusive, Scopely said it reached its peak in 2024 and its players have spent more than 15 billion hours playing so far.

Players closed those hours at a Los Angeles company game like Monopoly Go!, Stumbling Guys, Marvel Strike Force, Star Trek Fleet Command and Dice With Buddies.

I have written about the implementation of each of the games and covered Scopely from the beginning. I always thought his approach to game developers was brilliant, and his approach to user acquisition was fascinating. But it was one of many mobile game companies and its success was never guaranteed. It took a wild win Monopoly Go! – six years in the making – and get $4.9 billion with Savvy Games Group to establish its leadership.

Scopely’s speed is hard to ignore. The brand is now the No. 1 mobile game company in the US and among the top 5 in the world outside of China.

From humble beginnings to a global powerhouse

The social chess game had a strong start, gathering a dedicated audience. It wasn’t until 2014 that the franchise hit its stride when Scopely secured its first IP deal: a deal with Hasbro for the rights to Yahtzee. In 2015, the Dice franchise expanded to include “Yahtzee With Buddies.”

More than a decade later, Scopely’s Dice Franchise remains Scopely’s longest-running franchise, with over $1 billion in lifetime revenue.

The company has also grown significantly. With more than 2,400 employees and offices in more than a dozen countries, Scopely has developed games that span nearly every genre and platform.

Although the company’s roots are in mobile entertainment, pushing the boundaries of integrated gaming is part of Scopely’s ongoing strategy. 2024 was the game developer’s first time to launch a mobile-to-console product, bringing “Stumble Guys” to the Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.

“We had a lot of starts this year with our teams making big changes to drive the skill of our players,” wrote Driver and Ferreira.

Stumble Guys fans are no longer tied to a single device for playing the action game, and Android and iOS users can now interact with the first console players. As a result, the company has added millions to Stumblers’ worldwide collection.

Driver and Javier note that we can expect many more unpredictable games in the future from Scopely, admitting that Stumble Guys’ push “recreated the ability for other Scopely teams to deliver experiences on new platforms.”
