Russia is trying to develop its own game for technological independence

It’s no secret that Russia has been slowly working to emulate Western technology as much as possible and create its own, and its latest efforts seem to be related to video games. This processor does not have what Intel, AMD and Arm are currently producing, and it does not reach the power levels of PS5 or Xbox. Despite the weak chipset, Gorelkin stressed that the console is not designed to play old ports, but will play “home games”. Presumably, this means that Russia will need their own development team to develop the game.

There is another console called Fog Play that is developing, but it is a cloud gaming tool. Users of high-end computers can rent them to Fog Play owners, who play on these computers through the cloud.

These resources are only one part of Russia’s strategic plans. Ever since the invasion of Ukraine and Western sanctions, Russia has been trying to make this happen – but making this difficult.

The deployment of Astra Linux in government, intelligence, military and educational computing is another Russian initiative to develop its technology.
