As the football holidays give way to the chaos of the January transfer window, Premier League clubs will turn their attention to strengthening their squads.
Whether it’s winning the title, European qualification or fighting relegation, fresh faces can make a big difference.
However, the January market is not easy to manage.
Big money is often needed to attract top talent, and clubs tend to look for players who are surplus to requirements elsewhere.
With that in mind, here’s an analysis of one player that every Premier League club could be targeting to strengthen their squad.
Arsenal
Sporting Viktor Gyokeres is in incredible form, with 47 goals in 47 league games since joining from Coventry City in 2023. His hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League showed his quality. He could be the striker Arsenal need to complete their trophy-chasing ambitions.

Central midfield has become a concern for Villa. One option for the Midlands is Sunderland’s promising youngster Job Bellinghamalternatively, they could look for a winger with Leon Bailey struggling. Southampton’s Tyler Dibling would be a good option.
Bournemouth
Defensive reinforcements are essential. They could target Sheffield United Harrison Burrows, who can play at the back or in midfield.
Brentford
With Rico Henry out, left-back is a priority for the Bees. Sergio Reguilon is a natural left-footer who could provide balance and quality until Henry’s return. Morten Frendrup from Genoa is another versatile profile that could fit well in Thomas Frank’s system.
Brighton
Brighton must address their defensive vulnerabilities. Barcelona Andreas Christensen could be a smart addition, given his Premier League experience with Chelsea and the fact that he has only made one appearance in LaLiga this term.
Chelsea

Manager Enzo Maresca has options but the club have shown an interest in the 21-year-old Ipswich striker Liam Delap. At the other end of the field, the ex-Leicester manager could be looking for a goalkeeper Mads Hermansen from his former club, with Robert Sanchez not at his best this term.
The Crystal Palace
With Marco Guehi almost set to move on this summer, Southampton’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis would be a sensible deal should the England international leave in the near future. James McAtee lending could be another decent business.
Everton
Goals are Everton’s Achilles heel. Borja Sainzthe Championship’s top scorer this season with 15 goals, could provide the firepower they desperately need as they look to break away from relegation.
Fulham
Fulham could use additional options in attack. Brighton Evan Ferguson needs a few minutes from the south coast, but other targets like West Brom Josh Maja can also bring valuable attacking depth.

Ipswich Town
Goalkeeper Arijanet MuriΔ struggled, and Ipswich cannot afford mistakes in relegation. Thomas Kaminsky Luton, who looked solid in the Premier League last season, would be an excellent replacement.
Leicester City
Leicester need defensive stability under Ruud van Nistelrooy and the Foxes head coach could dip into the Dutch market having spent plenty of time in the Eredivisie, Josip Sutalo Ajax could be an option for them.
Liverpool
Arne Slot could find a replacement for Andy Robertson, and the Scot has had inconsistent performances this term. Bournemouth’s MiloΕ‘ Kerkez is a good choice in the position of left back.
Manchester City
City’s poor performance highlighted their need for a defensive midfielder in the absence of Rodrigo. Real Sociedad Martin Zubimendi or Bayern Munich Joshua Kimmichwhose contract expires this summer, could be transformative signings.

Manchester United
United could improve their left-wing position with Fulham’s Antonee Robinson. The speed and attacking flair of the American international would fit well into their system Rayan Ait Nouri from Vukov.
Newcastle United
Eddie Howe is still looking for a quality right-back. Xavi Simmonson loan at RB Leipzig or Bayer Leverkusen Jeremie Frimpongit could be ideal.
Nottingham Forest
Versatility is key for Forest as they push for a strong finish. Protecting Chris Wood is key for Nuno Espirito Santo so the striker β perhaps Spartak Moscow’s Manfred Ugalde β could work, having scored 15 goals in 18 games this term.
Southampton
The Saints may have to start shifting their focus to building for a championship. Aston Villa’s Jaden Philogene would be a real coup even if they could get hold of him
Tottenham

Spurs have a lot of business to do in January. Targeting a new midfielder could be a priority, with Real Betis Johnny Cardoso okay to make a move in the near future. Meanwhile, a bold bid for Nico Williams he would immediately arrange their replacement for Heung-Min Son when he leaves.
West Ham
With Jarrod Bowen limping off injured against Liverpool, it may be time to buy some cover this winter. Dibling would suit the Hammers, or McAtee is another option.
Wolves
With the league’s worst defensive record, the Wolves need leadership at the back. Kevin Danso from Lens had his eye on the new head coach Vitor Pereira.
