2024 was another the year defined by generative AIwith software tools placed in the hands of millions of people around the world and inevitably built into popular products, such as Google search. Even some AI tools, such as ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode and Google NotebookLMwere happy to partner with, the issue at hand remained technical, visual errors and ongoing questions about appropriate data subjects.
I mean, who could forget Shrimp Jesus and other surreal, AI-generated images circulating on Facebook? Or when AI views tell Google users that it’s better to eat rocks properly as well put glue on the pizza? It was the year when amazing things created by AI were heard everywhere.
Here at WIRED, 2024 was packed juicy research, serious discussionand Enough gadget reviews. This quiz looks back at our journalism throughout the year and captures only a small portion of the hard work and excellent pieces from my colleagues. With that in mind, I hope it’s an interesting way for readers to reflect on what often feels like a chaotic year.
