Nvidia’s next move: promoting humanoid robots

The gaming giant Nvidia is leaning heavily on robotics in 2025. In particular, it is introducing a new generation of humanoid robot computers, called Jetson Thor, in the first half of the new yearconfirms the Financial Times.

This move, which is expected, is part of the transition, for many years the way. Back in March, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang showed off a variety of robots powered by Nvidia chips at the company’s annual conference. Nvidia doesn’t plan to compete directly with manufacturers like Tesla, but it offers “hundreds of thousands“Robot manufacturers around the world with an OEM brand, as vice president of robotics, Deepu Talla, told reporters last month in Tokyo.

As for why now, Talla tells the FT that the change comes from two technological factors: the explosion of AI output models, and the ability to train robots on them using simulated environments.

What Nvidia isn’t saying but it’s true: its push into AI-powered robots comes as big customers like Amazon and Google work to reduce their reliance on AI chips in their manufacturing.
