Baseus Eli Sport 1: The Eli Sport 1 can be had for around $80. While it may not sound as good as some other open-back headphones out there – it can be a bit distracting at high volumes with heavy music – they sound great for their low price and I found them comfortable to wear. They look more expensive than their price would suggest. They have 16.2mm drivers, are IPX4 splash-proof and rated for up to 7.5 hours of battery life on low.
Samsung Galaxy Buds FE: With a list price of around $100, Samsung’s 2023 Galaxy Buds FE features a single driver (Samsung doesn’t say which size), three mics on each earbud and noise cancellation. They charge in a case that’s similar to what you get with Samsung’s latest Galaxy Buds, including the Galaxy Buds 2 and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. And they look like an updated version of the abandoned Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus earbuds, which also came with adjustable fins that helped create a secure, comfortable fit. Like the leaves, the Galaxy Buds FE are sweat-proof and IPX2 water-resistant which protects against splashes.
Bose Frames (Tempo) (Discontinued): Bose Frames are one of those things that you should try to appreciate — or get rid of. The idea is that you are getting a good pair of glasses with headphones that don’t go in your ears. Instead, tiny speakers built into each handset direct sound into your ears. This design would be great for people who don’t like to have headphones in or in their ears and also provides enough protection for runners and cyclists who want their ears to be heard in the world.
Jabra Elite 8 Active: With six microphones instead of four, noise-canceling micro-controllers and wind-reduction technology and superior stability, the Elite 8 Active looks, feels and acts like a modestly upgraded version of the Elite 7 Pro and Elite 7 Active. Jabra bills them as “the world’s toughest earbuds,” and based on our tests (they survived multiple drops without scratching), that may be true.
Soundpeats Air3 Deluxe HS: What makes the Soundpeats Air3 Deluxe HS unique is that they sound surprisingly good in open ears – they’re very close to what you get from Apple’s AirPods 3 in terms of sound. On top of that, they support Sony’s LDAC audio codec on the devices they offer. None of the cheapest open-back headphones have the best sound, but these Soundpeats have good bass response and good clarity. They are also great for making phone calls and having light games. Battery life is rated at 5 hours on low, and it’s IPX4 splash-proof.
