As we close out the legendary year of 2024, we’re looking forward to a game release calendar that’s already full of great titles. A number of games set in 2025 have already developed huge fanbases and social media attention, making them look forward to their launch. Following from A list of Dean’s most anticipated gamesthe games on this list are likely to be at the top of sales in the coming year.
2025 names are entering the foreign market. Many publishers would have said at the beginning of 2024 that professional titles are the way to market, but the market pushed back many (not all, but most) of the newly released titles. Most of them closed or their publishers announced the end of new products after a short time in the market, including ConcordFoamstars, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and XDefiant.
The coming year’s titles, on the other hand, consist of co-op titles and single-player narrative games from the biggest and most well-known studios. Here’s a game that looks like it’s going to be a big hit at next year’s sales, not to mention a huge hit.
Rockstar’s next game had an opening adventure. Most of the games have dropped at different points in development, right up until the end the hacker is releasing the images of the game in the middle of development in 2022. The launch of the trailer was also bamboozled by another leaker dropping early, although this does not seem to have dampened anyone’s interest in the game.
GTA V is still firmly established as one of the best selling games of all time, and all indications are that GTA VI will be a worthy successor and should put up good sales numbers. Currently, GTA VI is scheduled to launch at fall of 2025 release windowand Take-Two and Rockstar seem to have made a big commitment at this point. Some games are said to be delaying confirming release dates to avoid conflict with GTA VI.
Elden Ring continues to be one of the best sellers on the market a year after its launch, thanks to the combination of expected expansion, fans of the founder FromSoftware and solid games that call for repeats. Now FromSoft is saving the IP to continue with the new update, Night rain. The game has a network test in early 2025, with the full title starting later in the year.
The new title is a co-op ARPG with structured environments, its gameplay much faster than the original Elden Ring. It features characters for players to choose and customize, rather than just building one from the base. Although it may not have the impact on the market that Elden Ring had when it was launched (although the latter had age of uncertain sales to create anticipation), could see strong initial sales based on name recognition and players’ faith in FromSoft to deliver a quality product.
With the recent success of titles like Marvel Snap, Marvel Rivals and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, video games based on the Marvel franchise seem to be doing well with gamers. The combination of recognizable characters and solid, accessible gameplay has created some of the most popular titles of the past few years. In 2025, Skydance Media presents its own winning formula Marvel 1943: Rise of the Hydra.
Marvel 1943 is an adventure game that follows Captain America and Black Panther, along with Howling Commando Gabe Jones and Wakandan spy Nanali, on a mission during World War II. for his work on the Uncharted series. Currently, the game has a release window of 2025.
The Monster Hunter series has been around for 20 years, and it has been selling well. However, with the launch of Monster Hunter World in 2018, the franchise really took off, with the game selling over 25 million units as of March 2024 (including Iceborne). The next title Monster Hunter Rise sold 15 million units at the same time, the entire franchise sold more than 100 million units.
Monster Hunter Wilds looks set to continue this trend, offering a beautiful and engaging follow-up to World. The new game is set in the Forbidden Lands, where the player must fight against new monsters, using a new mount as a bird across a large open world. The game will launch on PC and consoles on February 28.
Naughty Dog is a developer that has been creating popular, well-received titles for years. The Uncharted series is one of the most beloved in the industry, and The Last of Us is considered one of the best games ever made and was adapted into an Emmy-winning TV show. So a new game – indeed, a new IP – from Naughty Dog is enough to attract attention, especially given that The Last of Us Neil Druckmann returns as creative director.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is a sci-fi adventure game following the adventures of a bounty hunter as he tries to track down his quest in a distant world where no one has been. The footage shown here shows the bounty hunter, Jordan, fighting robots. This is the only game on this list without a set window of 2025, however Said the Poor Dog that it has been working on the game since 2020.
Avowed was originally supposed to be launched in 2024, but the developer Obsidian and publisher Xbox Game Studios delayed it by three months to “give the remaining players room to breathe” (at the same time showing the logos of all the games released at the end of 2024 where Avowed launched. the launch date may be disputed) . Since the title is a massive ARPG, it’s understandable that the publisher wanted to give it a chance to win – even if its new date of February 18 puts it right next to Monster Hunter Wilds.
Obsidian’s previous titles include the Peabody Award-winning Pentiment (My favorite game of 2022), the Pillars of Eternity series, the classic Fallout: New Vegas, South Park: The Stick of Truth and The Outer Worlds. Both titles were critically acclaimed and sold well, with The Outer Worlds in particular selling 4 million units by its second year. Considering the quality of its manufacturer, Avowed seems to be able to do well in the market despite the competition.
Warhorse Studio’s Kingdom Come: Deliverance was the dark horse of 2018, offering an RPG in the (probably) accurate history of 15th-century Bohemia. The sequel, Deliverance 2, follows the ongoing story of Henry, the son of a blacksmith turned political magnate, where players make decisions that will affect their lives. The new game, like its predecessor, also has an escape mode that requires Henry to eat and sleep constantly.
Kingdom Come: Savings were provided by a Kickstarter campaign in 2014, and Warhorse signed a publishing deal with Deep Silver in 2016. Warhorse confirmed at the beginning of November this year that the first game had sold more than 8 million copies. Creative Director Daniel Vavra said the game shows that Deliverance 2 is the game Warhorse wanted to make, but couldn’t because of a lack of resources. It starts on February 4.
Josef Fares officially unveiled his new game at The Game Awards: Split Fiction, a fun game that is, like Hazelight’s previous title, It Takes Two, created and shared in the community. Players control Zoe and Mio, two writers trapped in their stories with each other, navigating all the challenges of platforming and different genres at the same time. The game starts on March 6.
Although Hazelight has only released two previous games, Way Out and the aforementioned Takes Two, both games were successful in sales. It Takes Two, in particular, has sold over 20 million units and won Game of the Year at the 2021 Game Awards and 25th DICE Awards. Like its predecessor, Split Fiction starts with the “Friend Pass,” meaning that only one of the partners must own the game in order to play.
The Civilization series is one of the most popular games, having been around since the early 90s and selling over 70 million units to date. 2016 Civilization VI sold one million units within the first two weeks. Now Firaxis Games and 2K are following up the series with the next installment, aptly named Development VIIwhich will start on February 11.
According to Firaxis, Civilization VII will be the biggest game in the series to date, and it also reinvents the leader system by expanding the list (including scientific and intellectual leaders along with military leaders) and allowing players to select leaders of any age. their development. Weather has become easier to be Ancient, Research and Modern. Civilization VII will also feature Gwendoline Christie as the narrator.
Nintendo’s plans for 2025 are in an unusual situation – while the company has yet to confirm, the smart money is on the presentation of the successor to the Switch sometime at the beginning of the year. This means that all of Nintendo’s announced games can be installed on the “Switch 2” as well as the Switch. Pokémon Legends: ZA is launching on “Nintendo Switch systems” in 2025, according to Game Freak.
The series is a bestseller for Nintendo, and Legends: Arceus sold nearly 15 million units in a year. Currently, we don’t know much about ZA except that it is set in Lumiose City, the setting of Pokémon X & Y.
2025 already has a release calendar, so the titles above are far from the only ones that will take the top spot on the bestseller list. Below is a list of all the other major products planned for the 2025 release window:
