Russia is banning crypto mining in several areas

It’s a quiet, late-December time for tech news. However, according to what we have already seen in technology in 2024, the Russian government is cracking down on crypto, and the final seasons of the Netflix series are on the way.

First, according to the reports of the state news agency Tass, the Russian government prohibited crypto mining in ten regions for six years. Russia has said that energy use in the industry is the main reason for banning the project. Crypto mining operations already account for about 2.5 percent of the US energy consumption. Russia’s ban goes into effect on January 1 and will last until March 15, 2031. The currency has been fully legalized in Russia since November.
