Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has urged his teammates to “make their own history” as they challenge for the Premier League title in their debut season under manager Arne Slott.
The Reds are currently six points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand over second-placed Arsenal.
Alisson, who played a key role in Liverpool’s winning Premier League campaign in 2019-20. under Jurgen Klopp, reflected on the achievement that ended the club’s 30-year title drought.
“That team was really special,” Alisson said. “We have achieved great things. It was the first league title in a long, long time.
“Together we achieved (won) the Champions League last season as well. There is no comparison with both situations.
“What makes me happy is this group of players – we have the quality to do something special. The most important thing is the dedication it takes to win something.”

Alisson is one of nine players in the current squad who were also part of the 2019-20 season. which won the title.
Other returning players include Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Andrew Robertson, Caoimhin Kelleher, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones and Mohamed Salah.
However, Liverpool’s squad has evolved significantly since then, with new signings such as Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Luis Díaz, Darwin Núñez and Cody Gakpo adding fresh energy to the squad.
Under Slot’s leadership, the team also adopted a new tactical identity.
“I don’t think it’s too similar (to our style under Klopp),” Alisson added.
“Several players are still playing in the team, but we have a slightly different style, more possession of the ball. Before it was really simple, a lot of transitions, a lot of intensity.”
Slot, who joined Liverpool from Feyenoord this summer, has introduced a more possession-based approach, moving slightly away from the high-intensity transitions that have characterized Klopp’s tenure.
This new tactical framework helped Liverpool dominate matches and maintain their position at the top of the table.
The Reds now face an important test as they prepare to travel to West Ham on Sunday, looking to extend their current advantage.
Reflecting on the team’s progress, Alisson stressed the need for them to focus on writing their own success story rather than comparing themselves to past teams.
“We don’t have to compare ourselves to teams from the past,” Alisson said. “We have to create our own history this season, this group.”
