Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has had a tough Test run so far as he has not looked in good rhythm. However, he was at his best on the fourth day of the Boxing Day Test in Australia’s second innings in Melbourne.
From the very beginning, Siraj looked in great rhythm with the ball. When Marnus Labuschagne and Pat Cummins were building a good partnership for Australia, Siraj gave India the much-needed breakthrough at the time.
It was an excellent length ball outside off stump that came back sharply and hit Labuschagne on his pad on the back foot. Umpire Michael Gough gave it out after a huge appeal from the Indian players. However, Marnus Labuschagne decided to do a review.
The ball hit Labuschagne a little high, but ball tracking showed the ball clipping the top of the middle club. It was enough for the judge to stand by his original decision. Mohammed Siraj was fired up after taking the wicket and mimicked the way Australia’s Sam Konstas made contact with the crowd.

During the first innings of the match in India, young debutant Sam Konstas pulled off a similar celebration in which he made contact with the crowd. Earlier in the day, Jasprit Bumrah also drew a similar celebration when he picked up the wicket of Sam Konstas.
It has been a high-voltage series so far with players and fans from both teams engaged in individual battles. Mohammed Siraj and Marnus Labuschagne were in each other’s face many times in the previous test as well.
It was Siraj’s third wicket of the day and one of his best days in this series. He was not at his best in this series and looked out of rhythm. But Mohammed Siraj made a great comeback and provided perfect company to Jasprit Bumrah.
Siraj’s pace also increased which means he was in a good rhythm. While Siraj looked good with the ball, Bumrah continued to impress with his exceptional skills and quality wicket taking.
In the series, there were various incidents on the court where players looked into each other’s eyes in an attempt to disrupt their concentration. Virat Kohli’s barge with Sam Konstas created a lot of controversy and he was even booed by the Australian crowd for his actions.
Not only the audience, the Australian media used words like ‘clown’ for Kohli which was heavily criticized by former Indian cricketers as well.
